Acer Swift 1

Looking for a laptop that is not too expensive, for school? Don’t want to waste too much money on purchasing a laptop? Consider purchasing the Acer Swift 1.

Starting at US$329.00, the Acer Swift 1 SF113-31-P5CK was released in 2017 by the Taiwanese electronics company, Acer. It runs on the operating system Windows 10 Home.

The display of the laptop is a 13.3 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) screen.

The laptop comes with 4 GB of RAM, and uses an Intel® Pentium® N4200 processor Quad-core 1.10 GHz.

The laptop only has 64 GB of flash memory. This is not enough for downloading lots of applications such as games. You would most likely need an external hard drive to store the data you need.

The battery is quite decent. It can last for about 7 hours. It cannot last the whole day if you use it continuously, without stopping.

The laptop also has a fingerprint scanner. It works with Windows Hello.

Should you buy it?

In my opinion, if you would like to use a laptop to surf the internet or run simple programs that do not need an excellent laptop or computer, you should buy the Acer Swift 1. However, if you prefer to have many applications and browser tabs running at the same time, or want to play games which are best run on a good computer or laptop, you should not buy the Acer Swift 1. Multitasking on the Acer Swift 1 might slow down the laptop.

LG G8 ThinQ

The LG G8 ThinQ was just released in February this year. It is LG’s newest phone. Of course, like any phones, it has it’s own advantages and disadvantages. Let’s talk about it’s advantages first.

The phone’s front facing camera can recognise the veins in your palms to unlock the phone(if you have set a password for the phone), and uses the same camera to respond to your hand gestures. Those hand gestures can be used to adjust the volume of your phone just by twisting your hand or just by waving your palm, you can dismiss your alarm. The LG company put a vibrator behind the OLED display of the phone. It amplifies the sound so you can hear the voice on the other end of the line no matter where your ear is, which is good as you do not need to position your ear to where the speaker is. The phone’s night view, which helps you in taking photos at night as it will look more natural.

Now, let us talk about it’s disadvantages. The phone’s price is far too expensive, costing at $819 according to LG. The LG’s camera’s portrait mode is bad as it can’t seem to tell where the subject ends and the background begins and ends.

In conclucsion, though this phone has it’s own advantages, it is far too expensive compared to other phones like the Oppo R17 so you should consider before buying it.

Google Pixel 3

Google Pixel 3 review:

Are you looking to find a smartphone with a perfect size and weight? Well then, the new Google Pixel 3 is an excellent choice for you. It was first released on the 18th of October, 2018 in the US followed by Canada, France, Germany, Japan, India, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, Spain, and lastly, Taiwan. The Google Pixel 3 has a single-lens camera, improved from Pixel 2 and 2 cameras in the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Not just that, the camera also has a Night Sight function that stitches together more shots in low light situations to improve its performance.

The new released smartphone also has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and a 4GB RAM. The Pixel 3 will be able to sustain one for 3 years if you take care of it and Google guaranteed timely software updates for that period of time. The Pixel 3 has a 5.5 inch display and a 2,260 x 1,080 pixel resolution. The price for it is $799 for the 64GB option, and $899 for the 128GB option. The entire smartphone’s dimension is 145.6 x 68.2 x 7.9 mm and weighs 148 g.
In my opinion, the Google Pixel 3 is definitely a good buy if you are looking for an affordable smartphone with a lasting battery life that is enough to suffice you.

Razer Phone 2

The Razer Phone 2 is a phone by Razer. It was released on 22 October 2018.

The Razer Phone 2 has 64 GB of storage. You can insert a micro SD card for an extra 1 TB of storage. The phone is 158.5 x 78.99 x 8.5. It runs on the operating system Android 8.1.

The phone has IP67 water resistance. This means that it is dust tight and the phone can be immersed 1 metre below the surface of the water for a short period of time.

The phone also has a Razer Chroma RGB logo. The colour can be customised to any colour.

The phone has 2 cameras, the front camera and the rear camera. The front camera can capture videos at 1080p. It is an f/2.0 lens with 8 megapixel camera. The rear camera can capture videos at up to 4K. It is an f/1.75 lens with 12 megapixel camera.

The display is 5.72 inches long. The resolution is 1440 x 2560. It has a 120 Hz refresh rate. Unlike the Razer Phone’s display, which uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the Razer Phone 2 uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The battery is a 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery. The phone has a wireless charging feature.

Should you buy it?

In my opinion, you should not buy it. The Razer Phone 2 is a gaming phone, however it does not have many special features that other gaming phones have. For example, the Asus ROG Phone has customisable pressure sensitive corners that allow you to open an application. The battery of the phone does not last very long compared to other phones.

However, if all you need is a phone with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the Razer Phone should be a suitable choice.

Beats Studio 3 Wireless

This very well-built headset comes with a sturdy design that somewhat fit nicely on your head. This headphone is a really good and worth-it product despite its hefty price. Besides its amazing positive attributes, there are definitely negative ones to it as well. Read on to find out more.

As you can see in the picture above, the design looks like as if the whole headphone is completely solid but in the matter of fact, it is not and is rather flexible in some way. By flexible i mean the frame is slightly bendable to satisfy the “an ear at a time” condition if you know what i mean. It is not as bendable as rubber but not all frames of headphones are as bendable as this one. Also, the ear cups are really comfortable, and does not really make our ears sweat unlike most other headphones.

The Beats Studio 3 Wireless offers improved sound quality, noise cancellation/cancelling and a longer battery life thanks to its predecessor in the same exact design as other Beats products. First, let’s talk about its battery capabilities. We all know making long-lasting rechargeable batteries ain’t an easy task. Shockingly, this headphone has a battery life of about 12 hours while using the wireless functionality and about 20 hours while connected via the 3.5mm headphone jack. Beats also claims a battery life of 22 hours with active noise cancelling turned on and 40 hours without. This headphone works really well with apple devices. If it is not an apple device it is connected with, the battery life will shorten and its bluetooth will not function as good as when it is connected with an apple device. It also does not have a passive listening mode, so it has noise cancelling on all the time, which could be a problem if someone wants to have a conversation with you.

Now, i am going to talk about the most important feature of any headphone – sound quality. You all might be expecting the sound quality to be exquisitely amazing, but it might not turn out as you expected it to be. Now, these headphones are bass masters. The lower frequencies are too emphasized, to the loss of basically everything else. In fact, the higher frequencies can barely be clearly heard due to the monstrous bass emphasis. Ultimately, this headphone is mainly for rhythm, beats and bass lovers.

Bose SoundSport Free

Do you wish to have wireless earbuds as great or even better than the Apple AirPods? Well, if that is your question, let me introduce to you, the Bose SoundSport Free.

Just like the AirPods, the SoundSport Free is cordless and is one of the best wireless earbuds out there. It is one of the best earbuds out there and given that the price reduced from $250 to $200, makes things more enticing.

First, let us talk about its advantages against the Airpods. It fits in more securely as it might not stay in their ears compared to others. For some people, the AirPods might just drop out when they are running and that might cause some damage to it too.

Like the similar SoundSport Wireless, the Free is also armed with Bose’s StayHear+ Sport tips and it comfortably locks them into your ears to maximize your sound quality. The control buttons, including volume controls are unified with the buds itself. The audio quality is way better compared to the cheaper AirPods, with more bass and well-off sound overall.

The Free has 5 hours of battery life, not inclusive of the two additional full charges for another 10 additional hours. Because of that, the case is significantly more bulky compared to the AirPods’ case. It is also sweat-resistant which make things convenient when it comes to working out.

The earbuds are easy to lose as it is miniature but with the new “Find My Buds” feature on the Bose Connect App, it makes things way more easy. You can also use the app to update the earbuds’ firmware too.

For my personal opinion, I think that many should buy this wonderful product as it has great sound quality and price too. It also has ways to track and update your earbuds when lost or in need of a firmware upgrade too. Given that the price has also been reduced to $200, I think that this will be appealing to most.

Motorola Moto Z3

The Motorola Moto Z3 is a phone by Motorola. It costs about $500. It runs on the operating system Android™ 8.1, Oreo™. It has the processor Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 835 with a 2.35GHz octa-core CPU and 850 MHz Adreno 540 GPU. It was released in August 2018.

The phone is splash-resistant. However, it is not water resistant or waterproof.

The phone is 76.5 x 156.5 x 6.75 mm long. It weighs 156 grams.

The rear camera is a 12 megapixel camera. It can capture up to 4K at 30 frames per second. The front camera is an 8 megapixel camera and it can capture up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

The Super AMOLED 2160 x 1080 display is 6.01 inches wide. It has an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The battery is 3000 mAh. It can last about 14 hours.

The phone has 4 GB of Random Access Memory (RAM), and has 64 GB of internal storage. It also has up to 2 TB mciroSD of expandable storage.

It has a fingerprint reader, and a face unlock feature.

The device does not have 5G alone. In order for the phone to have 5G, you need to use a Moto mod, called 5G Moto Mod. This allows you to use 5G. The 5G Moto Mod does not come with the device and needs to be purchased separately.

Should you buy this phone?

In my opinion, this phone is cheaper than most other smartphones. If you have a low budget, but want a smartphone, the Motorola Moto Z3 is a suitable option that you can consider. However, if you would like to use your smartphone for gaming or for applications that require lots of RAM, consider buying another phone instead.

Galaxy Buds

The Galaxy Buds, one of the newest wireless headphones in the market. The Galaxy Buds is also the reply Samsung has to Apple’s Airpods. This reply from Samsung is as usual a pretty impressive one, as of how the Buds, though being almost the same as Apple’s Airpods, still cheaper than the Airpods which some people would say to be expected. Not just does the Buds win the Airpods by its pricing but also by its weight and also some features that the Airpods lack.

The Galaxy Buds is a lightweight and compact headphones, that can stay in your ear securely and comfortably which to me is a big thumbs up for its price. It also has a pretty long lasting battery that can last up till 6 hours per day. Not just that, but its wireless charging case is also pretty small which allows you to fit it inside any compartment you would want it to be. The wireless charging case can also be charged using a USB-C or wirelessly on any Qi-enabled wireless charging pad or the back of one of Samsung’s new Galaxy S10 models, which have a new feature called PowerShare.

Powershare would be able to charge up the wireless charging case in 2 hours. With full battery, the case will be able to charge the buds 1 to 2 times for it to last 6 hours per charge. To me, that is already sufficient as how i will only use it when out which can go up to 12 hours and through that 12 hours, i will have my buds together with me working. It’s pretty great, right? But, though awesome and all the bass does not sound all that great. Though it’s already pretty decent, i would prefer the Airpods to the Buds.

But for some other people whose ears would not fit well with the Airpods, they would much prefer the Galaxy Buds to the Airpods, as i got to admit, with the in-ear bud that the Galaxy Buds has they can reduce noise from the outside world, giving you a better and clearer sound in that environment than the Airpods. The Galaxy Buds can also be better for people to make calls as of their mics which are certainly better than the Airpods’ ones.

Overall, i would say that if you are an Android user, you should definitely go for the Galaxy Buds, but for the Apple Users you can choose either of the two as they are both equally great. For people who thinks that Airpods cannot fit into their ears you can get the Buds as they are much more comfortable and secure in your ear.

Mi 8 Pro

Are you looking for a phone with beautiful design, amazing cameras and performs excellently? Well, I bet that the Mi 8 Pro is the right device for you. The Mi 8 Pro is currently performing well on the MIUI 10, the newest software update for Xiaomi. The back of the phone does display a circuitry system, even though it is a fake circuitry display, you have to admit that it does look pretty cool. The battery on the other hand, is real so make sure to take proper care of this phone when you go out to prevent any damages. There is also a notch at the top of the phone just like the IPhone X to maintain the style of it.

Sadly, wireless charging is not offered as it would ruin the aesthetic of the phone. Xiaomi introduced it as transparent titanium and that brings in a unique sense of design. The display is a 6.21-inch 2248 x 1080 AMOLED panel which also supports DCI-P3 wide color gamut. The fingerprint sensor is not at the top or bottom of the phone but an in-display sensor. Bad news is, it is not as effective as using a regular fingerprint scanner as it depends on the pressure exerted.

The good thing is, they also added in face unlock just in case the fingerprint sensor does not work. What Xiaomi did was extremely brilliant as they used the phone’s IR camera, which means that the phone can still scan you whilst being in a pitch dark room. The speakers are bad as you would need to turn it up to maximum volume just to be able to hear it so that is a disadvantage.

It runs on the Snapdragon 845 with RAM of 8GB and storage space of 128GB. The rear cameras are both 12 MP while the front camera is 20MP. The Mi 8 Pro’s battery life is at 3000mAh which is pretty weird to reduce the battery life for any ‘Pro’ version.

Overall, this is a decent phone that I would recommend anyone to buy. It has an amazing performance but the poor speakers and battery life might be not that appealing to most. The phone might also be too expensive for some people and there are other phones out in the market which are better than the Mi 8 Pro.

Huawei P30 Pro

The new Huawei P30 Pro was released on 26 March and will be available in Singapore on 6 April, at S$1,698 for 512GB internal storage with 8GB RAM, and S$1,398 for 256GB internal storage with 8GB RAM. It comes with Breathing Crystal, Aurora, and Black.

The Huawei P30 Pro has a 6.47-inch (2340 x 1080) OLED dewdrop display with FHD+ resolution. There is also an In-screen Fingerprint scanner.
