Acer Swift 1

Looking for a laptop that is not too expensive, for school? Don’t want to waste too much money on purchasing a laptop? Consider purchasing the Acer Swift 1.

Starting at US$329.00, the Acer Swift 1 SF113-31-P5CK was released in 2017 by the Taiwanese electronics company, Acer. It runs on the operating system Windows 10 Home.

The display of the laptop is a 13.3 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) screen.

The laptop comes with 4 GB of RAM, and uses an Intel® Pentium® N4200 processor Quad-core 1.10 GHz.

The laptop only has 64 GB of flash memory. This is not enough for downloading lots of applications such as games. You would most likely need an external hard drive to store the data you need.

The battery is quite decent. It can last for about 7 hours. It cannot last the whole day if you use it continuously, without stopping.

The laptop also has a fingerprint scanner. It works with Windows Hello.

Should you buy it?

In my opinion, if you would like to use a laptop to surf the internet or run simple programs that do not need an excellent laptop or computer, you should buy the Acer Swift 1. However, if you prefer to have many applications and browser tabs running at the same time, or want to play games which are best run on a good computer or laptop, you should not buy the Acer Swift 1. Multitasking on the Acer Swift 1 might slow down the laptop.

Acer Swift 7 (2018)

The Acer Swift 7 (2018) is a laptop by Acer. Starting at $1699, the slim laptop has an Intel Core i7, and has 8 GB of RAM. It comes in only one colour, black. The weight of the laptop is approximately 1.18 kilograms. The operating system is Windows 10 Home 64-bit Edition.

The screen is 14 inches long, and the resolution is 1920 x 1080. The laptop has 2 USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 ports.

Advantages:

It is only 8.98 mm thick. You can fit the laptop into a bag easily, without having to worry about the bag not being able to fit in. The laptop battery is rather good and can last more than nine hours before it runs out of energy. It has a fingerprint scanner for easy unlock and security.

The laptop also has a 4G wireless broadband and you can insert a nano SIM card. If you use your laptop frequently, outside of home, getting a data plan for your laptop is a good idea.

Disadvantages:

The laptop has no optical drive and the touch pad of the laptop cannot be clicked. If you want to click, you need to tap the touch pad. The webcam of the laptop is below the screen, and not in front of your face.

Should you buy it?

The price can be rather expensive to some users. The computer has a slower and older processor compared to other slim laptops like the Dell XPS 13. If you would like to use a laptop for checking your email while you are not at your office or your home, the Acer Swift 7 is a good choice since the battery would be able to last rather long.

Acer Switch 7

It is a detachable laptop that can be clipped on magnetically and also has a built in kickstand. It also allows the computer to run smoothly without the help of cooling fans which means the computer is cooled down without any sound. With a 16 GB ram, it allows the computer to run at a fast speed. The product comes in a set with a detachable keyboard, keyboard cover and a touch pen. However , the tablet is heavy and hence makes the tablet difficult to carry , especially for people that are working.

The kickstand can be activated easily in almost every flat surface. It has 2 built in buttons below the tablet so that when it is in contact with the surface, the button will be pushed and the kickstand will open. The kickstand can also be retracted easily. The tablet may also overheat when you run high quality games like Fortnite.

Just like any other tablets, the power button is also very small, so it is hard to find it. Its storage space is relatively big, just like any other tablets. Its resolution is good for running games like Fallout 4. It still uses the old cylindrical hole to charge. But it has a USB drive to connect devices and mouse to it. However, it only has one as it is a tablet and does not need much. On the contrary, the tablet is expensive. It costs $1699. Other computers can run games at the same resolution at a cheaper price.

In general, I feel that this computer is very good, almost without any flaws. I would give it a 9/10 if I were to rate it. Besides the fact that it is expensive and it is hard to carry around, it is very good in any other areas, especially its kickstand. For users that are addicted to games and want to play it outside, this is suitable for you.

For everything that it offers, if it were any cheaper, it would be a no-brainer. As is, it is a great option for anyone interested in a solid middle-of-the-road laptop, but it’s also not likely to catch anyone’s eye or inspire great works of creativity. The new Acer Spin 5 models comes in 13- and 15-inch versions. New features include its all-metal build, the latest 8th-gen Intel Core processors, a sharper screen, improved stylus support and better keyboard.

Having an installed space of 8GB, even though it is pretty less, it is actually worth it for just $700 and it even have the latest window Windows 10 Home and a capacity of 256GB. It has a built-in HD webcam, fingerprint sensor and microphone and, in terms of connectivity, it boasts Bluetooth and WiFi- connectivity (802.11ac). Want to know why you should consider buying the Acer Spin 5? It is well built and decently looking; good keyboard once you get used to it; excellent trackpad; decent screen if you keep it indoors; solid performance; long battery life; more affordable than the competition

On the contrary, it is a little heavy and have a shallow keyboard. Screen that is too dimmed and has only a microSD card-reader. For people who like peaceful surroundings, it has noisy fan and high operating temperatures on this test model

Why do you still buy it?

If you are looking for a Core U laptop with a compact case, convertible form-factor and an affordable price, then you absolutely have to check-out the Acer Spin 5, a device that is already available in stores and sells for $700 The Spin 5 is not without flaws, among them being a dim screen that is not going to do well outdoors and an moody fan, but it is also well built, performs well, types alright and packs a large battery, so the value you are getting for the buck is almost unbeatable by other convertibles available out there at the time of this post, a recipe Acer also follows with the Swift 3 we reviewed a couple of weeks ago.

Acer Predator XB272

The Acer Predator XB272 sends a fast 240Hz reload rate and offers a great selection of hardware controls. The 27 inch monitor has quite low resolution and the input connectors are not up to date. This is a great choice of a high-rate frame game. However it is not very ideal for the money spent on this typical kind of monitor.

Acer being competitive, increased the length of the monitor from 25 inch to 27 inch. At $680, it is not the cheapest monitor around, but it is one of the monitors that can refresh very fast. The thing that attracts buyers is of its resolution as if you can put a lorry in the pixels. But other than playing games, its resolution is not very high. You can set the resolution higher when playing games.

Specs:

Turns vertically

Depth of bit: 8

Normal Brightness:400

Pixel Pitch: 0.31mm

Gray Response time: 1 milisec

Black/white respond time: nil

Date of release: April 2017

The display of the monitor is normal, with the controls . The buttons are flat and hard to feel, but it has a joystick that makes it more easy to control the monitor. It serves as up and down keys. It has various options such as options that sets the brightness, reload rate.

Plus the 240Hz reload rate is way better than normal monitors that has reload rate of 144Hz and lousy monitors that has reload rate of 30 Hz.

There are 4 USB ports and 2 installed speakers. But there is only 1 HDMI . So, if you are spending too much money on this , you might consider using this monitor for several years.

There is 1 display port and a Headphone Jack.

So I personally think that the Predator XB272 has a great 240Hz reload rate if you are a gamer and love gaming. Plus you can set the resolution of the computer to make up for the monitor having only 1 HDMI , and of the input connectors.

Acer Spin 5

The improved Acer Spin 5 model comes in at 13 and 15 inch versions, so you can choose which model you would like to purchase. Acer included some new features like the eighth-gen Intel Core processors, a clearer screen, better stylus support and a better keyboard for people typing. The model is quite stylish and the metal build is glistening while being solid as a rock. The bad thing is, that the labtop is slightly heavier weighing at 3.31 pounds. 13 inch convertibles from Samsung and Hp weigh 2.5 pounds which is quite a big difference if you ask me.

The Acer Spin 5 comes with a stylus that is great for taking notes and drawing but unfortunately, there is no place for owners to store their stylus on the labtop. Even though the Acer Spin 5 is not made specifically for watching videos/shows, it can be used as your TV alternative whenever you want to use it. Its clear and bright screen displays bright colors with wide-viewing angles and the speakers, which are located above the keyboard, are impressively loud. Audio quality will suffer at maximum volume and distortions, but lowering it will help avoid it.

The specs of the screen contains 13.3-inch IPS screen, 1920×108-pixel resolution with a 16:9 screen ratio. There is also a special mode, called the tent mode which is made especially for watching videos or shows in a tight space. When watching, the labtop’s hinges are sturdy and holds its position firmly. The down side is that the speakers face the opposite direction of the screen which directs the sound away from the viewer. Even though, the nuisance is small it is noticeable.

The good side about the Acer Spin 5 is that it has a useful convertible design with a sturdy and current build. It has a solid keyboard, stylus support, surprisingly loud speakers and long battery life. The only bad side is that its quite heavy. Other than that, it has a pretty good price and i would get this computer for work as it seems really good. The price that it is starting at is $700.
