The OnePlus 6T has an In-display fingerprint scanner. Sadly OnePlus has removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack, but no worries, OnePlus will provide you one Type-C to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter in the box. Also the OnePlus 6T does not have an SD card slot, so you will be stuck with the storage that you buy.

The OnePlus 6T supports fast charging and the OS software does not uses up a lot of storage space which gives you more space to install games and take more photos or videos.

It has an Intelligent scene recognition feature which detects what is in the frame and tune the brightness, contrast, saturation, and more to help produce the ideal image. Nightscape technology helps to capture more details of the object you take in low-light places. Studio Lighting helps to
dynamically tone shadows and highlights on the object’s face, giving you stunning portraits.

OnePlus 6T overall is good, but the nightscape needs improvement on it. So if you are looking for a phone with premium design, fast charging, great battery life and performance, this might be the phone.

XiaoMi Mi A2

The XiaoMi Mi A2 was released on July 2018 at S$369 for 4GB RAM and 64GB Storage in Singapore. It comes in Gold, Lake Blue, and Black.

The Mi A2 has a 5.99-inch 18:9 (2160 x 1080 pixels) LCD FHD+ display, weights 168g.

It has a 3010 mAh battery, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE, running on Android One 8.1 instead of MIUI.

The Mi A2 has lost the headphone jack and also the microSD slot, therefore you will be stuck with the storage that you chose. The design of the Mi A2 does not look original. The battery life has only 3010 mAh battery which looks bad.

The Mi A2 runs on stock Android which is good, you can get faster updates, faster speed, no bloatware to eat up your storage, and has a clean design. You can take pleasing selfies using this AI-powered beauty 4.0 on the front camera, shoot a video at 4K 30fps and also a slow motion video at 720p 120fps.

The XiaoMi A2 overall looks fine, but the design and battery need to be improved on. If you are looking for a phone with good performance, faster updates and a camera which can take crispy photo, you might want to choose this XiaoMi Mi A2.

Sony WH-1000XM3

Sony has been competing against other headphone companies, trying to make the best headphone as possible.

Sony WH-1000XM3 has already proven it. The headphone had undergone a lot of changes; it has been lighter, and the headphone has a softer touch on your ear.

Although it is lighter (in terms of weight) now, it is still heavier than some headphones. But the headphone is more comfortable now. It has a new quick-charging function, which gives 5 hours of usage from a 10 mins worth of charge. The ear cups and controls have a gentler touch and the carrying case contains a section for the USB and headphone cable. The ear cup of the Sony WH-1000XM3 has a more oval shape now, so it is more suitable to the ear.

(A picture of the Sony WH-1000XM3)

The headphone transmits clearer sound, a higher definition audio and louder bass. It also has a better noise-cancelling effect. However, the noise-cancelling has little flaws; the music might stop sometimes, or the noise-cancelling function might not work, making loud music be heard from outside.

Now you can set the auto-off function, where the headphone will turn off a short while after you stopped listening to music. By doing so, you can save battery. But you can deactivate the function, which allows the noise-cancelling effect to still be in place eventhough you are no longer listening to music.

(A picture of the Sony WH-1000XM3 in its packaging.)

Some functions of the Sony WH-1000XM3 are also extra and useless.

Details on the Product

It weighs 254g, can be bluetooth- connected, and has a long battery life.It also is available in black or silver.

In a nutshell, the Sony WH-1000XM3 is a very good headphone; It is comfortable, has a long battery life,  and better noise-cancelling effect. It has improved a lot from previous models. However, the noise-cancelling effect sometimes might fail halfway while listening to music and your ear might get warm after using it for a while.

So, should you buy it?

Yes, because it is a perfect headphone besides some flaws. It is also priced at $289.99, which is relatively a reasonable price in my opinion.

BeatsX

The BeatsX is a bluetooth wireless headphone released by Beats by Dre or known as Beats Electronics today. The BeatsX also has Apple’s new customized low-power Bluetooth chip, the W1, which is als0 included for the AirPods and PowerBeats3 Wireless. Best thing is, it supports automatic pairing with Apple devices updated with the latest versions of its operating systems. Some examples are IOS 10, MacOS Sierra and WatchOS 3.

Among the other Beats models, the BeatsX is the best model as it was the first to be designed by Apple and other engineering teams. Another thing, the BeatsX is the only one capable to charge using a lightning cable.

The BeatsX is rocking that neckband-style wireless headphones that became so popular with the Tone headsets released by LG. There is something better about this compared to other neckband headphones and that is BeatsX including a Flex-Form cable. It has two wires which are extremely malleable, sturdy and lightweight. Why the company decided to do this is because they want you to anchor both sides of the wires equally.

These lightweight buds are also magnetized too. The only down side to it is that people with smaller necks may find that the cords are a little too long for them. Given that this earpiece is Bluetooth, people doubt their audio and voice quality but that is not an issue for the BeatsX. The headphones carries up to 8 hours of battery life, which is decent, but for some it may not be that appealing. The advantage is that, a five minute charge via its lightning port does give a usage of two hours.

In my opinion, I would get these headphones as it is much more convenient compared to wired headphones. Even though, the headphones might be a little too expensive for some people, but it is worth buying it as it has an improved microphone and charging ports. The price of the BeatsX is starting at $150 and is also cheaper compared to other models.

The Galaxy S10 has the 3.5mm headphone jack with a Type-C USB charging port, an In-display fingerprint scanner, and is water-resistance (IP68).

The bad things about this Galaxy S10 is the face unlock feature which is not secure and can be tricked by using a video of the owner. Samsung recommends to use the new in-display fingerprint scanner for stronger security. The price of this Galaxy S10 is expensive and there is still a Bixby button.

The good things is it has a new Wireless PowerShare which can charge other devices that support wireless charging by laying the Galaxy S10 on its face and then place a device back-to-back against the Galaxy S10. The harmful blue light has been reduced by 42% on this Galaxy S10 but the colour of the screen is still crispy. Reducing harmful blue light helps to reduce eye strain for a better night sleep.

The Galaxy S10 has the next level intelligence that will study your habits to blend seamlessly into your day. Intelligent Performance Enhancer will study your habits, enhancing the way you use your phone, and will run the apps that you have been using usually in the background so that they will launch immediately.

Samsung Galaxy A50

The Galaxy A50 features a 6.4-inch (1080 x 2340 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with full-HD+ resolution, with an In-display Fingerprint scanner, 4 or 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The Galaxy A50 has a big 4000mAh battery which supports fast charging, powered by octa-core Exynos 9610 processor. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie with the new Samsung OneUI.

Samsung’s new OneUI looks very different from last time, the new interface has been simplified, new icons, better reachability to get to what you want. It also has a Night Mode which turns your phone screen darker.

The Galaxy A50 has an In-display fingerprint scanner which is also found on the Galaxy S10 but this Galaxy A50 fingerprint scanner is Optical and not Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It also has the 3.5mm headphone jack with a Type-C USB charging port.

The bad things about this Galaxy A50 is not having an Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. But the price might be sold higher if it has this feature.

The good things is it has a fast charging support, a good display, a big battery which can last the whole day, supports Dolby Atmos which can enhance the sound, and is water-resistant.

If you are looking for a good display, and a phone with In-display fingerprint scanner that can unlock your phone faster, you might want to choose this Samsung Galaxy A50.

The new XiaoMi Mi Band 3 was released on 31 May 2018 and is being sold at S$55, with larger display and improved features such as heart rate, activity monitoring features. It is available in graphite black, electric orange, and deep sky blue.

The Mi Band 3 has a larger OLED screen than the old Mi Band 2, with a display resolution of 128 x 80, 0.78 inches, and is water resistance up to 50 meters.

It has a 48 characters display, displays incoming message notifications from your phone, and can track your steps plus your sleep.

XiaoMi has also added a bigger 110mAh battery, which will last around 20 days.

The straps are soft, made from skin-friendly material and it feels comfortable and easy to wear when you wear it.

This Mi Band is very cheap and affordable, good design, and new features such as weather, stopwatch, silent, find your device, and change how your screen looks like.

The Weather feature shows you the 3-days forecast. You can silent your phone through Mi band and can also find your device as long as you are connected to your phone with Bluetooth.

The bad things about this Mi Band 3 is not having a GPS, and when you are outside under the sun, it is very hard to see the screen clearly.

When you want to charge your Mi band, sometimes it might be hard to take it out from the strap because it has a secure design that would not let your band drop out easily. But after using for a long time, it won’t be hard to take out.

You can also set event reminders, example: Meeting at afternoon, buy groceries. And unlock your Android phone with it.

If you are looking for cheap band with basic features and a big display that can show you the notifications from your phone, you might want to buy this.

Samsung Galaxy J4+

The Samsung Galaxy J4+ was released on 3 November 2018 for S$248. It is available in Black, Gold, and Pink*.

The Galaxy J4+has the same display size and resolution as the Galaxy J6+, a 6-inch infinity display, 1480 x 720 pixels, with HD+ resolution. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB Storage. Also this Galaxy J4+ display is not an AMOLED screen.

The Galaxy J4+ features a single 13-megapixel (f/1.9) rear camera, and a 5-megapixel (f/2.2) selfie camera. Both rear and front has the LED flash.

It has a 3300 mAh battery and is powered by Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425, running on Android Oreo 8.1. The Galaxy J4+ will get the Android Pie 9.0 update during May this year.

The Galaxy J4+ has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and the 3.5mm headphone jack with a Micro USB charging port.

The bad things about this Galaxy J4+ is having a weak processor, bland design, and looks the same as other phones. Example, the Galaxy J6+ looks almost the same as this Galaxy J4+, but the Galaxy J6+ has a dual camera setup. This Snapdragon 425 processor is not good at handling extreme gaming and resource-intensive usage, so this phone is not recommended for gamer.

The good things is it has a good camera, a big screen to enjoy with, and it supports Dolby Atmos which can enhance the sound. This Galaxy J4+ performs fairly in low light conditions, but at least it has the AR stickers and filters feature.

Is it worth buying this Galaxy J4+? Well, I think it is not worth buying it but if you like having a phone with a big screen with good user interface, a camera that performs well and have Dolby Atmos support, you might want to consider buying this Galaxy J4+.

*Pink is not available in Singapore.

iPhone XR

The iPhone XR is a phone which comprises of almost all the features of previous phones such as the iPhone X. It also has a quite reasonable pricing as compared to all the other phones. It is priced at $700-$800 depending on the currency you are following.

As it is a little bit cheaper compared to iPhone X/XS, hence the iPhone XR has some aspects which might not be as good such as the screen or camera. However, don’t be disheartened as the XR also has its good side; the size of it is bigger than the XS. You now can choose the storage space which is just right for you. Unlike before where the storage space choices are limited, now there are more choices. Now there is a 128GB storage space choice. If you want to upgrade to the 128GB storage space, The iPhone XR will cost $799 in total. But the additional money you pay will be worthwhile the deal as once you have decided on the storage space there is no turning back to change the space of your phone. So it is better to get a phone with bigger storage space.

Image result for iPhone XR
Picture of iPhone XR and its colours.

The only difference of the camera between the XR as compared to the XS/X is it does not have 2x zoom, causing the zoomed picture to not be as clear. The character in the photos appears further from the camera when taken with the XR. The iPhone XR also has portrait mode effects. But however, it only works on people. If the camera doesn’t “detect” a person, the portrait mode will not activate.

Front view of the iPhone XR

The iPhone XR has a relatively large size, so it is easy for the user to retrieve from their pockets and it is comfortable for the user to hold it. The battery life of the iPhone XR is one of its best features. It has one of the longest battery life amongst other phones. Like the newer iPhone models, it does not have a headphone jack.

In general, I feel that you should get this phone. It is an all-in-one package. It is quite cheap and has many features. The only flaw that its camera is not as good as compared to other iPhone models. If you really like iPhone models and wants something reasonable, this is the thing for you.
