DJI Phantom 4 Pro

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is another drone for photographers to use. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro almost seems like it was made for that exact purpose with automated camera functions, robust controls, and a max speed of 72kph (45mph).

Specifications:

  • 1388g (3.06 pounds)
  • 350mm diagonally (13.7 inches)
  • Approx 28 minutes flight time
  • Controller with flight and camera controls (optional touchscreen)
  • 72kph (45mph)
  • Front and rear collision detection

The automated camera functions means that you do not need to control the camera on your own to do the same things over and over again. The 28 minutes flight time would mean that you do not have to constantly land your drone and recharge it and can continuously take a series of photographs. Having a controller with flight and camera controls to control the drone would be like playing a video game on your phone. Collision sensors on the sides would allow you to know when your drone bumps into something. The one on the bottom would allow for safer landings and the infrared sensors would allow it to know where it is in a confined space.

The return-to-home function has a range of 300 meters. The function allows the drone to go back to a specific location that you can set as long as that location is within the range. That is where the infrared sensors come in handy as you can get it to go into confined spaces like your house. The drone, using the infrared sensors, would be able to navigate through the area on its own when returning home.

The chunky controller has not changed from the DJI Phantom 4. Of course the price is more expensive due to the additional Pro features.

Now onto the drone itself. It has a carry case which as the name suggests can carry items in it. The propellers can be easily removed and clipped on for the ease of setup.

Camera Specifications:

  • 4K video at 60fps
  • Max video bitrate 100Mbps
  • 128GB MicroSD
  • 20-megapixel, 1-inch CMOS sensor
  • Mechanical shutter
  • Aperture control f2.8-f11

The specifications are what you would usually find in a camera drone.

2 of the drone functions include ActiveTrack and Tapfly mode. ActiveTrack allows the drone to follow a subject by flying sideways or backwards. Tapfly mode, which works backwards now, allows the drone to fly to a location which you will determine by tapping on the screen and you can rotate the drone or tilt the camera without changing its path. The software can handle the gimbal’s smooth sweeps and tracking better than you can, and that is what’s worth the price for interested photographers.

The drone comes with a beginners mode where it restricts the top seed and steering. Once you are more comfortable with flying it, you can always remove the beginner mode anytime you feel like.

I personally feel that the price is worth it for the wide variety of functions and the complexity of each function. The functions are easy to use and can easily help one out in sticky situations.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro costs on an average of $1,500USD.

Dji Inspire 1

Dji Inspire 1 is the most advanced Dji drone yet. It comes with everything you need to fly. It includes:

  • Aircraft Body x1
  • Remote Controller x1
  • Camera with Gimbal x1
  • Propellers (Pair) x4
  • Intelligent Flight Battery (TB47) x1
  • Battery Charger x1
  • SD Card (16GB) x1
  • ND Filter x1
  • Manuals
  • Power Cable x1
  • Micro-USB Cables x2
  • Remote Controller Charging Cable x1
  • Harness x1
  • Camera with Gimbal Box x1
  • Carrying Case x1

It has 4K HD video recording and 12 megapixel for phototaking. In flight, you can turn on the GPS position hold mode which means if you let go the control on the controller, it will hover itself and it will also auto return to home when you turn off the controller. It also includes a camera gimbal, this will help you to get a stable shot and reduce most of the vibrations from the drone. The Inspire 1 have strong carbon fiber arms that can lift up out sight, this means you can have a unrestricted 360⁰ view. It is easier to fly indoors with the Vision Positioning technology as this provides accurate position holding even when the GPS is not available. The sensors will determine your Inspire 1’s location and altitude and will lower the legs automatically when landing. Dji has re-engineered and re-built Propulsion System which give the drone more power and reliability. I think it is quite worth it for professional photographers to purchase it because it is very easy to control and has a great camera for aerial photography.

DJI Spark

The five colours of the DJI Spark: Blue,Green,Red,White,Yellow.

The drone that I will be doing today is the DJI Spark. Its advantage is that it is light, has a very good camera, can sense obstacles and dodge it and has gesture controls. It is suitable for taking good pictures. But the gesture mode can only take pictures and it flies for a very short time.

The app is not very efficient , especially on phones with small screens and frustrates the user. In general, it a good camera in a small flying package.

With a affordable price of $468.49, like a efficient camera , you can get many good functions of this portable camera. At first, DJI Mavic Pro($999) with its features like the compact folding design, it went to the top ranking amongst the drones. But after the appearance of the Spark in may, everyone forgot the rest of the drones and only remembered this one.It has many features like the Mavic such as dual-band GPS and a visual positioning system to let it “float” 30 feet above the ground without falling.

For the Spark, there is a bundle for you to get a set of prop guards, extra props, batteries for only $699. You save $154, so why not get this bundle right? It comes in five colours- blue, green, red ,white ,yellow.

How do you operate it?Simple.

Just power on the blades of the Drone, put it in your hands and your face. facing the camera, tap twice of the power button. The camera scans your face.Simple as that.

I personally think this Drone is great for people who love flying objects, love to take pictures and people who likes cool and trending stuff. Basically, it has a great camera quality in a small package but it cannot hover in the air for long.
